One of the Family

Today our house, as well as the other houses, went up to the gym to go see the SPCA Assembly, where Norm Hewitt (the man who was running it) came in and told us stories about his dogs, his family and other things. A lot of his stories were funny, but some of them were upsetting, talking about abuse and violence. He said, it was what started him with this.

One of the ladies working for him explained that in the responsibilities with owning an animal, there are 5 important things they need, which they called the 5 freedoms:

  1. Shelter
  2. Food & Water
  3. Exercise
  4. Love
  5. Vet cave

Norm used to play for the All Blacks (Hooker No. 2), which he said that he had been dreaming to be since he was 7 years old. He did this before he became a dancer and won Dancing with the stars, and then a member of the SPCA. The meaning for him saying this, he said, was that you can achieve your dreams if you try, and I have to say, it was pretty cool (and funny).
