Aims Games 2013 - Enviro Team
Last week was the NZCT Aims Games and —
No, I was not a part of any of the sports because I'm not really 'athletically inclined' or wanted to play any of those sports anyway.
But, still, last week was the NZCT Aims Games — a sporting competition — organized by Sport Bay Of Plenty. 166 Intermediate schools — or just kids from 11 - 13 — from around New Zealand (including 2 from Aussie and 1 from Rarotonga) come to compete if they have been chosen to compete in it.
Although I couldn't watch throughout most of the week, our two Yr 8 classes were assigned by our teacher to be in the Enviro team, where we cleaned up the course/fields the teams were playing on. Sorting out what rubbish went in what bin and made sure the place wasn't dirty.
The group I was in, we all went on Wednesday, where we had to clean up the Marist Rugby field while the kids were playing. Our teacher with us — Miss Campbell — said that we were the best team she had and we were really well behaved! (In my perspective, though, we really weren't.)
It was really hot and tiring, but it was surprisingly fun. I wasn't surprised when I heard that the other kids who came wanted to do it again, it actually was fun. And it was cool watching some of the kids play! We were goofing around too, which I have to say that I'm pretty glad I got assigned into that group, because they were really cool.
